Successful Remote First-time Buyer after Virtual Live Viewings We were extremely pleased to work with Tim Pierson’s team for our first home purchase while residing on the West coast. They guided us through every phase, especially giving us the comfort and confidence on virtual live visits. Our remote process: We contacted Tim’s team per a glowing referral from a family member in the NOVA area. Tim’s team replied to us promptly, and then spent a few hours over multiple calls in educating us on how to purchase a home, especially how they work with remote buyers. Since I was blessed to fly out to house-hunt in person, Tim reciprocated by dedicating two full days (Mon + Tue), and we were able to visit ~20 homes together, while having countless discussions during the viewings, car rides, and lunches. Right balance of autonomy and course corrections: Starting out, Tim’s team supported my eagerness to research available listings. My choices defined all ~10 homes we visited on Day1, and some of my poor decisions on many led us to learn a great deal. Tim’s allowance to invest in these errors educated us to course correct onto Day2 which was Tim’s turn to choose his top ten choices. After those visits, we solidified our mental model of my family’s dream home. A later example of autonomy was Tim’s process of suggesting strong recommendations for my broader team (e.g. a local title company and home inspector; which worked out great), BUT providing multiple options for others (e.g. local mortgage companies, where I felt much better having to do my own homework to find the right-fit). Having multiple inputs: There was no planned Day3 beforehand, but after hearing my excitement on two listings, Tim’s team was more than willing to allow me to revisit them with his partner TJ. It was extremely helpful to have a second agent survey the properties and to go back-and-forth on sharing feedback, especially to review my list of concerns generated after my first visit. When Tim and TJ had minor differences of opinions, it gave me a more well-rounded picture of what it would involve to own and to maintain this property. Right balance of waiting and giving updates: Like most buyers, our home purchase process did not go smoothly, and Tim+TJ were there to help guide us through the many hurdles. As first-time buyers, we had many exhausting and stressful periods of waiting for updates and when to make decisions, and looking back, Tim’s team struck the right balance to ease us. Usually we would coordinate on an end-of-day phone call (which was sometimes late on the East Coast), and I could tell that Tim was fighting for resolutions throughout the day without having to inform us on every detail. And when there was an important midday update or decision, he didn’t hold back in contacting us immediately. How we finally found a home via virtual live viewings: We restarted our search a few weeks later, and this time, we were comfortable in doing it virtually, to save travel time/cost/energy from the West Coast. Tim’s team were more than happy to visit our desired listings over video chat, covering the entire inside and outside of the home until we were completely satisfied. More importantly, all of our earlier investments paid off since Tim and TJ knew what we were looking for, and so we were all in-sync during the listing-browsing, listing visit, and post visit discussions of the home that I currently live in. They also later took the ~half-day in attending the home inspection, so I could be virtually included via video chat. In conclusion: I wholeheartedly recommend Tim Pierson’s team if you are situated far away and are looking to purchase in the NOVA area. I was uneducated and skeptical at first on how much time any realtor would invest time for me and my family, especially without a fee if I didn’t go through with a purchase, AND NOW I was extremely pleased with Tim team’s commitment and energies towards my first-home purchase. Reflecting back three months ago, my family was quite comfortable in making one of our most important decisions, even though thousands of miles away, due to the mutual trust and respect we built with Tim’s team.
